Privacy Policy

The UK Alumni Group of New York ("UKAG," "we," "our") is a volunteer, non-commercial network. We respect your privacy and collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information We Collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, namely:

  • Details you submit through a form on this site, such as your name, email address, the institution you mention, and your message.
  • Your email address (and name, if given) when you join our mailing list.
  • Basic, anonymized usage data that our website host (Squarespace) collects automatically, such as pages visited, to keep the site working and secure.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you give us to respond to your message, to send you occasional notices about events if you have joined the mailing list, and to run and improve the website. We do not use it for any other purpose.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not fundraise from it. We share it only with the service providers that operate this site and our mailing list on our behalf (such as Squarespace), and only so they can provide those services. We may disclose information if required to do so by law.

Cookies and Analytics

Our website host sets a small number of cookies needed to operate the site and to gather basic, aggregate analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect how parts of the site work.

The Mailing List

Joining the mailing list is entirely optional. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to remove you at any time by using our contact form.

Your Choices

You may ask us to confirm what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Use our contact form and we will do our best to help.

Children

This website is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16.

Links to Other Sites

Our site links to third-party websites, organizations, venues, and events that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, their practices, or their privacy policies. Visiting those sites is at your own discretion, and we encourage you to review their terms.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised date above.

Events Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Website Information

The information on this website, including the resources directory, is provided for general information only. We try to keep it accurate and current, but we make no representations or warranties of any kind about its completeness, accuracy, or reliability. Any reliance you place on it is at your own risk, and we recommend confirming details directly with the relevant organization or venue.

Events We Promote or List

Many events, organizations, venues, and resources mentioned on this site are run by third parties, not by UKAG. Listing or promoting them is not an endorsement, and we do not organize, control, supervise, or take responsibility for them. Any dealings you have with those third parties, and your attendance at their events, are solely between you and them.

Events We Host

Where UKAG hosts or co-hosts an event, you attend voluntarily and at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, UKAG and its organizers, committee members, volunteers, and representatives are not liable for any injury, illness, loss, damage, or expense arising out of or in connection with attendance at, or participation in, any event, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law. By attending, you accept these terms and agree to follow our Code of Conduct.

General

Nothing in this disclaimer is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This website and these terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
